2 NEW SOUL FOCUS RELEASES OUT NOW!

We've just unleased the 7th and 8th releases on the label and they're available now at Juno Download.
Both are very much on the funky/party breaks tip with a strong Hip Hop feel (as usual!) so if you're into Bomb Strikes, A Skillz or Kid Stretch make sure you check 'em out...

Doo Wop, Akinyele, Fat Joe, Lord Tariq & Pretty Boy Floyd 'Gotta Go Down' (1995)

OK, so I didn't just drop a 4 figure sum on the Hip Hop collector's Holy Grail, but £3 did just get me a bootleg 12" that includes the b-side which did the rounds on the mixtapes back in the day...

Green Lantern 'The Mix'

Bit of a strange one here. Its a 7 minute megamix of 90s classics by DJ Green Lantern, taken from this 12" which looks - and in places sounds - like a bootleg (it ends quite abruptly!). I suppose it could be that someone recorded Lantern's interlude slot on the Eminem tour one night and then pressed it up, adding some of the accapellas and instrumentals on the b-side. Either that or they just jacked his show vinyl and this is a straight copy. Anyway, it features Da Bush Babees, Nine, Mary J, Method Man, Craig Mack and Channel Live and its worth a listen.

Step One presents 'Illegal Remixes Vol 2'

The first volume of unofficial remixes that I dropped back in January proved quite popular so I've teamed up with the peoples over at TROY to bring you Volume 2.

There’s a good variety of flavours on this one, ranging from straight-up Hip Hop on the Meth, Xzibit and Mobb Deep tracks, to the reggae re-rubs of the Jungle Brothers and Fugees joints. The West Coast is represented on the ‘West Up!’ remix and the ATL gets a look in with 2 Outkast joints. As with the first set, some of these are ripped from vinyl, others have been posted on blogs and forums.
