First mix I've posted in some time so I done went and got my blend on. Some of these have been posted here before and others I just made over the last few days. All of them were done on 2 turntables as I can't use anything else, although  did have to make some edits to remove the cuts on the Crooklyn and Suspended In Time instrumentals. Enjoy.

XFM All City Show 12.05.04 with the Beastie Boys

Dan Greenpeace runs through listeners' picks from the Beastie's catalogue before interviewing the lads ahead of the upcoming release of To The 5 Boroughs.

Wouldn't say I'm a huge Beastie Boys fan but I enjoy a decent amount of their catalogue and as I got their book for Christmas I thought I'd get this tape ripped today. Hold It Now is still very much up there on the OB4ZL 80s playlist.

DJ 7L & Frank The Butcher - Illegal Business

Grimey mid 90s east coast rap is obviously perfect winter music but this is particularly enjoyable. It dropped 5 years ago but it had disappeared from my hard drive at some point which meant I couldn't listen to the Cru jackin for beats freestyle that's on here (and I believe only available on the Bubblin/Live At The Tunnel promo for those of you interested in that kind of thing).

I interviewed 7L a few years back, which is a good read if you have time to kill and didn't catch it first time around. He's got an album coming out with Ghostface soon too.

Radio 1 Rap Show 1st anniversary with Funk Flex, Sadat X & Akinyele (1996)

This was a bit of a big deal at the time. Previously the Rap Exchange shows had given us 2 hours a month of Flex's show in NYC but this time he'd come to the UK to (relentlessly) promote his first 60 Minutes Of Funk mixtape and play at Club UN for the 1st anniversary of Tim's Radio 1 show, which started in December 94. What we got was two 3 hour shows of Flex mixing interspersed with Akinyele and Sadat X freestyles as they'd accompanied him on the trip, having featured on the mixtape's lead single Loud Hangover. I've posted some bits of these recordings years ago but thought I'd better throw the whole 6 hours up before the blog is done.

I remember being at home with a really shitty cold listening to this live on both nights (often I'd record and listen back the next day) and I'm pretty sure this was the first time I heard California Love and Woo Hah. I also wrote down the entire tracklist at the time but can't quite bring myself to type it up yet.Suffice to say that with that much time to do his thing, Flex runs through pretty much everything. Alongside the new music there's golden era classics, breakbeats and some R&B.
