Funkmaster Flex & Pete Rock on Hot 97 (1994)

This was on the flipside of the Pete Rock tape I posted the other day (which fully warrants your attention btw). This time we find PR on the 1's & 2's on Flex's 'Street Jams' show in early 1994.

Some great tunes on this as you'd expect but the highlight might be Flavor Flav calling the studio around the 32 minute mark.

Marley Marl 'In Control' on WBLS (1990)

40 minutes of Marley's legendary show. Not sure who's on the tables for this one - could be Pete Rock or Clark Kent. The tape I got it from has about 3 different shows on it so its hard to tell. Anyway, expect some Stezo, EPMD, Chubb Rock and Big Daddy Kane aswell as the dope 'Start It Up Y'all' by MC Lyte, Positive K & Milk Dee...

DJ Rhude 'The Notorious 9' (2013)

Following on from the post below, the homie DJ Rhude dropped this yesterday...

I’ve always wondered what Big would sound like rocking with some of today’s producers, which was the catalyst behind this project. I’ve taken 9 of his songs and matched them up with some of the dopest producers out now. Some noteworthy beats featured on The Notorious 9 are from Harry Fraud, No I.D., Large Professor, The Alchemist, Jahlil Beats and a few others. Along for the ride are some respected heavyweights from the industry in Datwon Thomas (Exec. Ed. Vibe Mag) Shaheem Reid (The Round Up, XXL, Shade 45), Jayson Rodriguez (The Content King, host of The BQE), Rob Markman (MTV News) and DJ Goldfinger. They all took some out time to share their thoughts on Big. Hope everyone enjoys this tribute to one of the greatest rappers to grace the mic. RIP to the late, great Frank White. Peace. – DJ Rhude

Funkmaster Flex on Radio 1 (1996)

The April 1996 edition of Westwood's Rap Exchange. It was around this time that there was a beginning to be a shift from the traditional rougher East Coast sound to the more club friendly joints that started to dominate Hot 97's playlist through 97-98. 'Aint No Nigga' was the biggest record in NYC at the time and Foxy Brown's buzz was building (she drops a freestyle on this tape) but Flex's selection should still appeal to the purists: Sadat X, Redman, INI, Group Home and Paula Perry all feature...

The photo above was taken by David Corio at infamous London venue Subterrania in September '94. He's got some nice pics over there so go take a look.

I've got the mixing bug at the moment, which is strange given that I'm using CDJs at the moment while one of my 1210s is being repaired. Anyway, here's something I knocked up friday night. No particular theme, just an hour of tracks from 2000 - 2004.
