DJ Mister Cee
The Best Of Jay Z: Lifetime Pt II (1998)
The B-side of this tape is mostly joints off Jigga's 'Hard Knock Life' LP, but there's some gems to be found on the A-side such as the opening 'Roc-A-Fella Shit' which flips the same sample as MOP's 'World Famous' (and Scarface's My Block'). Sauce Money appearances are always welcome around these parts and Cee also pulls out a few lesser spotted R&B guest spots. Jay Z had really hit his stride around '98 and this captures that era nicely.
This is another Junior Pepaseed sureshot...

Mister Cee - Forget About It (1999)
Last week I was lucky enough to pick up a batch of tapes from Junior Pepaseed. There was a lot of treats in there but first up is this dope Mister Cee tape from 1999. Highlights include some hard to find Mobb Deep and Nas tracks, early 50 Cent, Slick Rick, Cam'ron...pretty much all bangers really.
Tagged on at the very end of side b is only the second sighting of a Rev Run & Big Kap song that I heard once on Westwood and haven't seen since. It's not a classic by any means but its always been something of a curiosity.
Also featured is 'Street Dynasty' by Menaka, which I really like. Never heard of him before but if anyone can hook me up a decent quality version of that or any of his other stuff it'd be appreciated.

'That Mister Cee Freestyle Shit' (1994)

Following on from the DJ Enuff set I posted below, this collection hooked up by Mister Cee is most famous for including the Biggie and 2Pac 'Live At The Garden' freestyle alongside Shyheim, Big Scoob and Big Daddy Kane. Also featured are Keith Murray, ODB, Masta Ace Inc, Brand Nubian, Finsta Bundy and Biz Markie.

Obligatory MJ post...
I wasn't gonna post anything as there's not really much I can add that hasn't been said already.
Then DJ Premier and Mista Cee's tribute mixes both appeared on the net so it seemed within the spirit of this blog to feature them.
The DJ Premier one is available here. Shout to Gimantalor holding it down for all things Primo related.
Mista Cee's mix on Hot 97 is here. Big up Marioka. Go see him for some classic mixtapes.
Some things I will say on the subject:
* 'Bad' was one of the first albums I learnt the words to start to finish.
* 'Billie Jean' is probably the most reliable, fail-safe record you can own as a DJ. It fills any dancefloor with the quickness.
* I dont understand how his albums sold out. Whats up with all these "fans" that didnt already own 'Bad', 'Thriller' and 'Off The Wall' ?!
