Fusion - The Burner (2003)
Obscure promo mix CD heat now, courtesy of Fusion, a producer best known for his work with OB4ZL favourite Fallacy. This gathers up a bunch of exclusives, blends, freestyles and remixes from the US and UK. Highligts include some early Durrty Goodz (when he was still Durrty Doogz), the mix of Made You Look over the Big N Bashy instrumental, D&B vet Skibadee dropping something over a Just Blaze beat that I cant place right now and some always welcome verses by Skeme (the English one).

Melle Mell - The Message '94 (Westwood special)
Melle Mell flips some new (and old) lyrics over The Message as a dubplate special for Westwood...
The photo above was taken at the premier of Ice T's Art Of Rap documentary in London back in 2012. A great night in a less than half full Hammersmith Apollo with Ice, Mell, Hijack, Rae & Ghost and Chuck D all performing live and getting together for a freestyle sesh at the end. Chuck came out to the Nation Of Millions intro, recorded at the same venue 25 years previously which was a nice touch.

DJ Juice - Volume 37 (1997-98)
Another J-U-ICE mix, guessing this is from late 97/early 98. No tracklist but that always makes the first listen a bit more enoyable. Lots of LOX related stuff on here, plus Big Pun, Busta & Cormega, Cappadonna, Rakim, Master P and CNN all blended the f' up.

DJ Clue - Clue For President (1998)
Another banger from Clue. This is the tape with The Lox freestyle over 'You Know My Steez', plus some Jay Z, Onyx, Mic Geronimo, Cam'ron and Noreaga...
Still got more Clue & Juice tapes to come.

McGruff 'Harlem Kids Get Biz' (DJ Step One blend)
Right, back to some proper no nonsense mid 90s rap music. Here's the acapella of Herb McGruff's dope 'Harlem Kids Get Biz' blended with Jemini's 'Brooklyn Kids' instrumental. You see what I did there?
The Jemini beat is by the perenially underrated Minnesota who has a host of quality tracks to his name but for some reason never quite quite blew up like some might have expected. The original McGruff track was produced by Spunk Bigga, who's career was probably held back by his choice of name more than anything. Judging by the lack of Google image results for him it looks like he knows it too.

DJ Step One - Mash Up & Dance
I've decided I'm going to try and drop a mix on the first of each month throughout 2016, so here's January's installment. The first thing to say about this mix is that it would've been alot more appropriate to drop it yesterday as its a straight house party set. Still, keep it on deck and you never know when it might come in handy. I got busy mixing up the genres and threw in a few acapellas, re-edits and mash ups along the way...
