Radio 1 Rap Show 06.01.96

I posted the Top 10 at 10 part of this years ago but it was only at 128kbps so here's the full 90 mins of that tape in better quality. Mobb Deep were in between albums and Prodigy still managed to be on 3 songs in the Top 10. Salaam Remi was on fire around that time too, with production on the Greg Nice and Fugees tracks (one an obscure indie 12", the other the lead single for The Score) and his dope remix of Fast Life for G Rap and Nas. Liking that Clark Kent remix of The Natural too...

Tracklist

Supernatural & KRS One - WKCR freestyle
Mic Geronimo - The Natural (Clark Kent's Ghetto mix)
Special Ed - Freaky Flow (DJ Premier remix)
Greg Nice - Set It Off
GZA ft Inspectah Deck - Cold World
LL Cool J ft Keith Murray, Prodigy, Fat Joe & Foxy Brown - I Shot Ya (remix)
Goodie Mob - Cell Therapy
Big Noyd ft Prodigy - Recognize And Realize
Jamal - Fades Em All (Pete Rock remix)
Kool G Rap ft Nas - Fast Life (Norfside remix)

Akinyele & Sadat X - Loud Hangover

BDP - South Bronx
Schoolly D - PSK What Does It Mean

Don't have time for much more than ripping the rest of these Westwood tapes at the moment but I'll see what else I can dig up.

KRS One - Future Flavas on Hot 97 (1994)

Before Pete Rock and Marley Marl made the Future Flavas show famous, it was hosted by KRS One (yeah I thought that was a bit weird too). Here's 40 minutes from a tape Tobes gave me a while back. Method Man, Bootcamp Click, Keith Murray, Death Camp and Mad Lion all feature.

Funkmaster Flex & Cam'ron on Hot 97 (2002)

KFC on Hot 97 around the time Come Home With Me dropped. Baby phones in to the station for a bit of a love-in and we get a couple of Dipset mixtape joints (the Guess Who's Back and Show you freestyles) and the Oh Boy/Oh Girl remix which was never all that but by all accounts still better than the shelved mix that Jay Z did a verse for.

Beanie Sigel live in NYC (2002)

The Broad Street Bully live on stage in New York. Bit shouty but that's rap concerts for you. This also carries on the great hip hop tradition of the hype man's mic being louder than the main artist at times.

G Dep - Hit Em High (2001)

Just found this unreleased G Dep track tucked away on a Crib Underground 12". Nothing mind blowing but a solid enough effort that should interest any fans of early 00s Bad Boy material. I think it might be produced by Clark Kent. A brief search throws up appearance on a couple of mixtapes by Clue and PF Cuttin, and a MySpace page, which seems like something from another lifetime. Annoyingly, Audiomack seems to have done away with it's download feature so here's a Mediafire link.

I've dropped a few more Westwood shows on the archive in the last couple of days.

18th January 2002 with Tom Silverman

9th June 2000 (no guest)

4th June 1999 with Roots Manuva & DJ MK

plus I've also reposted shows that other people have uploaded, including some old Capital Rap Shows
