Funkmaster Flex - Hot 97 Street Jams (1994-95)
More Flex. Street Jams tapes usually include a few treats and this is definitely a good one. It starts off with Sluggy Ranks 'Ghetto Youth Bust' which I enjoyed as I'm more familiar with the jungle version. A couple of classic freestyles also get an airing, with the KRS One, MC Serch & Scarface session and the full 'Live At The Garden' with Biggie, 2Pac, Big Daddy Kane and the lads. There's also a short Das EFX freestyle with DJ Scratch on the turntables.

DeleteThat Sluggy Ranks remix at the top is dope! Can't find where it came from though...there was a tag at the beginning that said it was a Street Jams Exclusive, so maybe it was a custom remix Flex made? If so, he def had the studio acapella for the remix, cuz Tucka Da Huntaman wasn't featured on the acapella that was released to the public. Anyone know where to find this remix? (It's the very first song)

ReplyDeleteThanks Charles, but that's 12" doesn't have the same remix on it. The one in this radio show is different. Starting to think more and more that it was a custom remix Flex did that he never released
DeleteAhhh, you're right. Just listened to a snippet of it on some reggae website. Dang it.
DeleteIf you ever locate it please post it up.
