Stretch & Bobbito on WKCR (02.09.95)

The 'Wild Pitch extravaganza' show, with MC Serch & DJ Eclipse in the studio showcasing Wild Pitch's new roster. Foul Play, Total Pack and Jesse West are all in the building to play their forthcoming releases and kick a freestyle. OC also puts in an appearance and as you would expect he stands out from his label mates by some distance. Unfortunately 3 months later - the 8th May to be precise - Serch would be on Wildman Steve's WBAU show announcing that Wild Pitch was no more and that the label closed that day. Foul Play and Total Pack would be shelved, their material confined to Eclipse's Wild Pitch Blends mixtape (although the Foul Play demos eventually got the ltd edition vinyl treatment). Jesse West released Put Your Boots On 2 years later but never really made the most of his early association with Puff & Biggie.Obviously OC went on to do well for himself and make his mark.

The full tracklist for this show is online so it must've been uploaded before but I just found a tape of it in a stack of unmarked cassettes that Random Rap Radio donated to me so big up Craig for this one.

Big L & OC on Westwood (1997)

Following on nicely from the last post, here's Big L and OC on the Radio 1 Rap Show from 1997. Only 17 minutes long but you get an interview and freestyle and Tim says 'younahmsayin' a helluva lot.
Thanks to The Expert for sending over the audio for this one. All donations are gratefully received!

Tim posted the freestyle on youtube a while back, which makes a change because in the last year he's been posting things I ripped myself and uploaded years ago, albeit in much better (ie straight from DAT) quality.

Hard Drive Clearout

A few bits that I've found on other sites over the years that you might've missed (and the links are probably dead now anyway), things I ripped and never got round to uploading,  joints that don't really warrant their own post...

Ice T, King Tee & Bango freestyle (Capital Rap Show 1989)
courtesy of  Irish Craig  (I think)

Rakim acapella freestyle (early 90s ?)
no info on this and its only about 25 seconds long but still...

Main Source 'Looking At The Front Door' (alternative/demo version)
I think I got this from unkut.com a few years ago

Big L - Pre Game freestyle (1999)
Lamont over the Sauce Money banger

Children of The Corn - American Dream (alternative version)
this version appeared on a DJ S&S mixtape and features a slightly different Big L verse to the one that appears on the promo 12"

OC - DJ Camillo freestyle (1998)
Nice OC freestyle off a Camillo mixtape. Pretty sure I got this one from Roy Johnson .

MORE RARE 90s FREESTYLES - Lord Finesse, OC & Das EFX

I was going to post these one at a time but seeing as I've got enought material to keep me going for the forseeable future why bother waiting?

This Lord Finesse & Triple Seis freestyle is from a 1998 Funkmaster Flex show on Hot 97. This is a personal favourite as they spit over the 'John Blaze' and 'Banned From TV' instrumentals.

OC freestyle for Tim Westwood's show on Capital FM. There's no date on the tape but I'm guessing this from 1994.

This one is taken from the September 1995 Rap Exchange where Westwood would co-host a show with Funkmaster Flex live from NYC. Das EFX freestyling over the 'MCs Act Like They Dont Know' instrumental.
