This is raw. The Funky Man drops a lengthy freestyle filled with his trademark slick talk and punchlines while Buckwild holds down the 1200s. No idea if this has been online before but I heard it today, realised I hadn't ripped it and as I haven't dropped many freestyles recently, here it is.
I had it on a compilation of freestyles on a TDK I was given a few years ago. Not sure where its from originally but I guess it's a Buckwild tape of some sort.
Ok, thanks. I think it might have been on a tape by Rock N Wills, which was a Harlem store that put out their own tapes with freestyles recorded at the store, if I'm not mistaken. Never seen a whole tape online though. The two Big L. Hardpack freestyles over Blind Alley and Too Hard To Handle also were on these tapes I believe, and were later played on CM Famalam and that's where the mp3s originated from that have been floating around.
It's off a Hardpack tape, recorded live at Rock N. Will's on 125th (the spot L first met and spit for 'nesse). They had tables and a mic in the back room of the store. That's the Will whose birthday it was that Finesse shouts out a couple times. It's also about the earliest thing you'll ever hear from Buck, who was already spinning but had only really started fucking around with production within the past year or so at this point. Buck was also sellin' his blend tapes up there like every other major (or soon to be major) DJ, it's basically where he got his start as well.
Pretty sure I did “pre-internet”, as a kid growing up in NY around the time this tape dropped. Hard to say for sure since Finesse has used all those rhymes before and it's been so long but the ad-libs and shouts were immediately familiar to me at least. Either way I'm happy to hear it now, so thanks for that.
Yeh, that's a part verse from Set it Off Troop, I remember it from the Class Act OST. Seems like it's one of those Slice o'Spice reissh releases too...
Wow, never heard this before! What tape is this from?
