Doo Wop - 15.09.94
This was one of the first tapes I posted when I started the blog in 2009, but it was in 3 parts, with the first part of side 2 cut out and the whole thing was at 128 kbps. Here's the full tape at 320. Still not a huge fan of the Bounce Squad live bit at the beginning of the side 2 (not the most polished live show you'll hear and it's a bit shouty) but the blends that make up the first part of the mix are all fully on point. Classic mixtape business from a time when it wasn't just about getting exclusives.
According to a comment on the mixcloud page this tape is also known as 'Sandy's Birthday'. My Tape Kingz cassette has no mention of that so I'll stick with the title on the cover...

Snagglepuss goin' in over the beatboxing in the live section is kinda nuts.
ReplyDeleteNice drop Step! This was one of the 1st mixtapes I ever owned, and also one of my favorite of all time....probably because of nostalgia, but also because of the dope blends that you mentioned. My tape also was labeled "Sandy's Bday Jam"
ReplyDeleteit was one of the first tapes I copped as well, I'd had Doo Wop Xmas Jams 93 and Fall Flavour 94 before this one
